In-House Basketball:

In-House basketball was introduced in 1995 as a basic skill and drill program for youth ages 3 to 12 years old.  In 1996, Junior Kemp created the Midget and Junior Basketball Leagues.  Both leagues have been extremely successful over the years housing great talent from Lyons, Newark, Clyde, Sodus, Williamson, North Rose Wolcott, Geneva, Waterloo and Phelps.  

Travel Basketball

Travel Basketball has been a part of the Lyons Community Center for over 40 years.  It is the longest running program the Community Center offers.   There are 6 teams that participate in the Travel Leagues:  Boys 5th, Boys 6, Boys 7, Boys 8, Girls 5/6 and Girls 7/8.  

Program Levels

Biddie Basketball:  Ages 3 to 5 (or Kindergarten):  This program focuses on the basic skills of basketball.  We use fun games that the youth already know and apply basketball to those games.  For example:, Red light Green Light is a great game to teach the youth how to dribble and triple threat.  This program is also great for youth to develop social skills while learning the basic of basketball.   

Midget Basketball:  Grades 1st - 3rd:  This program is league based.  At this level, teams practice and participate in games played here in town.  At this level, the coach is on the court giving instruction to their players.  

Junior Basketball:  Grades 4th - 6th:  This program is league based.  At this level, teams practice and participate in games played here in town.
